This what the TOGA gardens were looking like last Friday, June 20th after all the days of rain and heat!! Pretty much all the other gardens looked similar- the weekend forecast was really hot weather with rain forecast for pretty much everyday next week - so if the weeks didn’t get cleared over the weekend- we were in trouble…..

TOGA-25 kicked off today - Great group of girls- not afraid to get down and dirty!! We planted 3 rows of cut flowers and seeded 1 row of zinnias each gal has 1 tomato plant and 2 pepper plants in the ground!
Now we’re just waiting for rain!!

Happy to announce to our new members- “We will start planting on Saturday, May 17th , at 9am!” Yeah-Rah!!!!”

If you have a garden hoe, bring it. Garden gloves are another helpful thing to bring. We will have some basic hand tools, a garden hose, a water can, and at least 1 or 2 garden hoes, along with numerous seed packets and label sticks ! You can bring a folding yard chair and maybe a cooler with a drink or snack as there are some nice trees close to the garden to take a break under!
Remember, this is fun- not work and we are going to have fun!!!😀

Look at some of the seed choices!!! Plus there are 9 different tomatoes & more than 16 different Pepper varieties to put in your garden- Remember, we are keeping bite size, so each gardener can pick 2 varieties in 4 categories!

Taking applications !! Gardening in bite size pieces- West 1st street community gardens- subdivide 1 plot between a number of student gardeners with the goal of having at least 1 entry for the Clay County Fair!!
Tomatoes, peppers, gourds, and pumpkins-, sunflowers, etc- many different varieties to choose from.
Gardener can choose 4 items they would like to grow and manage for the season! Great fun! Always exciting to see your entry at the fair!!!
Applications forms are available at the Clay County Extension office and
Thrifty White pharmacy in Spencer.
