Check out this crazy transformation!! Small garage but needed an absolute ton of work. This concrete was a MESS. We are talking cracks all the way down to the ground, cracks as wide as half an inch or more and areas where it sunk some.
✅First thing we did was diamond grind. This served more for leveling the surface as it was not very flat.
✅Next we filled all the cracks with a filler which is my fine and medium blend sand. This achieves 2 things. It fills the crack so we keep it from draining to the ground and once we pour our urethane it soaks into the sand and hardens everything and bonds tightly. Once cured this is ground flat
✅Next we vacuumed the surface and then shot blasted the concrete for a very heavy profile. This is important for my V***r Barrier.
✅First Coat is the V***r Barrier. This completely waterproofs the slab and protects it from any moisture related issues. This is important because this resists any issues again with moisture that can cause the system to fail if there is a moisture issue.
✅After the V***r Barrier we sanded this coat for the intermediate coat to adhere properly. This coat is my Poly Flex. I recommended this and always do for slabs that have issues with cracks. We utilize this polyurea coat as it has superior flexibility and will allow for movement.
✅Last coat is my Polyaspartic. This seals and protects the flake from any staining while being resistant to abrasions and UV stable. This also has some flexibility to help aid in areas prone to cracking more.
****when you get bids on your floor, make sure that company is asking you specifically what your use is for your floor and make sure they always recommend a v***r mitigating system!! If not look elsewhere.
- Common things to look for
* Are they specifying what what system they recommend and why.
* Are they looking at details. For example cracks. How will they address cracks? How big are they and will they recommend stitching and why or why not.
* Are they telling you how thick your system will be. Not saying it’s this thick or this thin. Look for someone that is telling you how many mils. For example floors can be as thin as a 5-8 mils thick for grind and seals urethanes and such. Or as thick as urethane cement systems which can be upwards of 500 mils which would be upwards 1/8-1/2” inch thick.
It’s a lot to read through. But I strive to be very transparent in the work I do and want everyone to know a lot goes into your floor to make it last. Also hiring someone that knows the right system for your needs.
