Sandmark Custom Homes

10/14/2026

The 2026 Parade of Homes officially wrapped up Saturday night, and we’ve spent the last few days getting back into our normal routines, catching our breath, and soaking in all of the kind words, conversations, and feedback from visitors, subcontractors, friends, and even our fellow builders.

This year felt especially exciting. We saw pre-pandemic attendance numbers — 982 people through House #5 in just three days — and we were incredibly honored to receive the Grand Champion Award for Overall Highest Score, the Judges’ Award of Excellence for the Remodel Category, and the Special Feature Award for Outdoor Living Space.

But more than the awards, what we’ll remember most is the people who made the weekend what it was.

Thank you to every subcontractor and trade partner who helped bring this renovation to life and who spent time with us at the house throughout the weekend. Thank you to the Parade committee members who put in countless hours behind the scenes, and to the nearly 1,000 visitors who came through our doors — including so many who traveled from near and far to experience all 18 beautiful Parade homes and businesses.

We’re also incredibly thankful for our family members who traveled in to help us before, during, and after the Parade. There were a lot of moving pieces, long days, and little details that had to come together, and we truly could not have done it without them.

And most importantly, thank you to our clients. Opening your newly renovated home to nearly 1,000 strangers over the course of three days is no small thing. Your generosity, trust, patience, and excitement made this entire experience possible. This year’s Parade simply would not have been as successful — or as much fun — without the two of you.

We’re leaving this year’s Parade feeling incredibly grateful for the people we get to work with, the community we get to be part of, and the opportunity to keep doing what we love.

And while we may need a little time before we’re ready to talk about next October… we’re already excited to see what the 2027 Parade of Homes brings. ❤️

Thank you for an unforgettable 2026 Parade!

Today is the FINAL DAY of the Outer Banks Home Builders Association Parade of Homes!

What a weekend it has already been. Over the last two days, 591 people have toured House #5, and we are incredibly grateful for every person who has walked through the door.

We’re also honored to share that House #5 has received:
🏆 Grand Champion — Overall Highest Score
🏆 Judges’ Award of Excellence — Remodel Category
🏆 Special Feature Award — Outdoor Living Space
And we hope we're not finished yet!

We’ll be at 35 Ocean View Loop in Southern Shores from 10 AM–6 PM today, along with many of the outstanding subcontractors who helped bring this renovation to life. If you’ve been wanting to see the home in person, ask questions, or meet some of the talented people behind the project, today is your last chance.

And after you’ve finished touring all of the Parade homes, please remember House #5 for the People’s Choice Award. Simply drop your ticket in the ballot box at the last home you tour.

Come see why this project has been such a special one for us! ❤️

October on the Outer Banks is packed with some of our favorite events of the year. 🍂 From pumpkins and live music to seafood, home tours, and a cause very close to our hearts, there’s plenty happening all month long.

We’ll especially be looking forward to the Parade of Homes October 8–10 and Cancer Shucks on October 23 — and hopefully squeezing in a few of the others along the way too.

Save this post so you don’t miss anything, and let us know which one you’re planning to attend!

October 1 marks one year since we lost my brother, Matthew.

There are still days when it doesn’t feel real. I miss his smile, his laugh, his quiet way of taking everything in, and all the little things that made him Matt. He loved animals, nature, his family, and of course the Redskins. I’d like to think he and Dad are together somewhere, surrounded by every dog and cat our family has loved over the years—and hopefully not paying too much attention to this football season.

Grief changes, but it doesn’t disappear. Some days it’s quiet, and other days a memory can bring it all rushing back. What I hold onto most are the good memories, the laughter, and the love.

I see so much of Matt and Dad in Casey, and that brings me comfort too. The people we love have a way of staying with us.

Matt, we talk about you, we laugh about you, and we miss you every single day.
I hope you know how deeply you were loved then, and how very much you are still loved now.

❤️ Sandy

See everyone tonight!! 😎

The OBHBA Live & Silent Auction is happening **this Wednesday night**, and we hope you’ll join us for a fun evening supporting a great cause!

📅 **Wednesday, September 30**
⏰ **5:30 – 8:00 PM**
📍 **Swells’a Brewing Company – Kill Devil Hills**

Come out, grab a drink, catch up with fellow OBHBA members, and bid on some great items in our **Live & Silent Auction** — all while helping support the **OBHBA Scholarship Fund**.

Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships for local high school seniors pursuing education and careers in construction-related fields. It’s a great opportunity to support the next generation of our industry while enjoying an evening with fellow members and friends.

**Bring your competitive bidding spirit and come ready to have some fun!**

We’d love to see a great turnout from our membership. Invite a coworker, bring a friend, and join us Wednesday night at Swells’a!

From the first exterior details to the spaces designed for everyday living, this custom home came together with so much thought in every corner. We loved bringing this home to life and creating a place that feels just as beautiful inside as it does from the out.
