Creating a private golf green takes much more than laying turf. It begins with shaping the land — considering grading, drainage, contours and how the course will ultimately live within the surrounding property.

Matt — founder, leader and father — started Hampton Rustic at just 18, with a love for the land, an instinct for the work and a desire to do things a little differently.

More than two decades later, the company has grown, but his approach hasn’t. He’s still on the jobsite, still operating the machines and still personally invested in every landscape we touch.

The beginning of an incredible move in Amagansett — hand-digging around a 70-foot redwood to prepare it for relocation.

Moving a tree of this size isn’t an everyday project. Before the equipment, before the transport and before it could settle into its new home, there was careful digging and a crew working around an enormous root system.

Metal has a place in the garden, too. ⛓️

We love the way metal can bring structure, function and character into a landscape — sometimes quietly and sometimes as the focal point.

A custom archway that disappears beneath climbing vines. A rustic gate that feels at home among the dunes. Deer grates, fencing and driveway details designed to do a job without taking away from the landscape. And occasionally, a piece of art that reminds us just how beautifully metal and nature can coexist.

Some pieces we fabricate ourselves. Others simply inspire us.

Over time, steel weathers, plants grow around it and what started as a hard material becomes part of the landscape itself.

Long before a project is finished, there’s pride in the process—the careful planning, the attention to detail and the people working side by side to bring a vision to life.

Just as important is passing that knowledge on. Teaching the next generation the value of hard work, craftsmanship and creating something that will stand the test of time.
