As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to remember.

The lives lost.
The families forever changed.
The first responders who ran toward danger.
The ordinary Americans who stepped forward to help.
And the way our nation came together when we needed one another most.

For the rest of this week, we’ll be taking time to remember the people, the courage, the sacrifice and the service that defined September 11 and the days that followed.

25 years later, their stories still matter. Their sacrifice still matters. And our promise to remember still matters.

🎙️ Did you catch us on the radio Saturday morning?

I had the opportunity to join Mike McGivern on the Creative Construction of Wisconsin Home Improvement Show to talk about something that means a lot to all of us at SERVPRO of Southeast Milwaukee & Southeast Waukesha County — supporting our first responders and their families.

Joining us in the Donovan & Jorgenson Heating & Cooling Studios were Captain Dan Fournier of the South Milwaukee Police Department and Shanda Caveney, Community President at WaterStone Bank.

We talked about the upcoming Smoke & Spirits event on September 19 at Boxhorn Gun Club, benefiting the First Responders Children’s Foundation, and why our SERVPRO team has gotten behind this organization.

One of the most meaningful parts of the show was hearing from Annie Rule-White, daughter of fallen officer Caleb Rule and a scholarship recipient through the First Responders Children’s Foundation. Hearing directly from someone whose family has been impacted is a powerful reminder of why events like Smoke & Spirits matter.

Why We Support the First Responders Children’s Foundation 🚒🚑🚓❤️

First responders spend their careers showing up for us on some of the worst days of our lives. They run toward emergencies when everyone else is trying to get to safety. They protect our homes, our businesses, our neighborhoods, and our families.

That’s why supporting the First Responders Children’s Foundation means so much to us.

Their mission goes beyond simply saying “thank you.” They provide meaningful support to the children and families of first responders—especially when a family is dealing with tragedy, injury, financial hardship, or other difficult circumstances.

At SERVPRO of Southeast Milwaukee & Southeast Waukesha County, we work alongside first responders regularly. We see their commitment firsthand, and we believe supporting the people who protect our communities also means supporting the families standing behind them.

That’s a big reason we’re proud to make the First Responders Children’s Foundation the beneficiary of our Smoke & Spirits event on September 19 at Boxhorn Gun Club.

Every person who comes out, shoots trap, participates in the bourbon tasting, sponsors the event, or simply helps spread the word is helping us give back to families who have given so much to their communities.

They show up for us. This is one way we can show up for them.
