Designing with purpose starts with great people.

Planting native pollinators isn’t just about beauty, it’s about boosting ecological diversity and supporting the native flora and fauna that call this place home.

Every garden is a chance to restore and reconnect.

As spring draws to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible native beauty it brought to life.

When designing with native plants, we take our cues from nature, drawing inspiration from the local color palette and seasonal rhythms.

The result: ecosystems that feel rooted in place while supporting the flora and fauna that call it home.

We had the pleasure of working with Compass Academy Charter School on a fifth-grade pollinator garden, and what a journey it was.

From wild sketches and soil testing to plant palettes and paths, these young designers dreamed big. We walked them through the design process, created a plan shaped by their ideas, and helped facilitate the plants that brought it all to life.

What they built wasn’t just a garden, it’s a living classroom, a shared project, and a small act of ecological care.

We had such a fun time celebrating our planet and handing out 200 native meadow seed packets to guests of the Liberty Science Center! 🌱🌍

Special thanks to the LSC staff for inviting us to share the good word about native plants and sustainable design among other local Jersey businesses.

Aquilegia canadensis (or columbine) is blooming! This native flowering perennial attracts hummingbirds—they put their long noses up through the red flowers to get the nectar, and the bird gives back by pollinating the plant! It's how many plants reproduce and create more genetic diversity in the surrounding community.

Tree roots don’t have to be a no-go zone for planting!

Use nature as guidance by pairing native spring ephemerals and resilient groundcovers to bring life to the shady, rooty spaces under mature trees.

Rue anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides) pops up early in spring, blooming delicately before fading back in summer. Common violet (Viola sororia) follows with lush, low-growing foliage and sweet purple blooms, creating a soft, living carpet through the season. These two respect the tree’s root zone, thrive in shade, and support pollinators.
