It’s not every day that you get to work on a house that was built before the civil war, at one point was part of a women’s college property and “recently” suffered a massive kitchen fire yet still stood awaiting this amazing transformation. Floor Care PSA: The question we get most often when we're finishing a project is "How do I take care of my new floors?". Here are some of our top tips: 1) Maintain felt pads on any furniture that is subject to being moved. 2) Minimize shoes 3) Cleaning: Vacuum without the agitator. Clean with Bona Hardwood Cleaner or other mild cleaner using damp terry or microfiber mop head (never a bucket of water and rag mop). Vinegar and water is a good substitute as well. 4) Avoid any product that contains wax, detergents (Murphys Oil Soap) or any product that claims to "restore/rebuild" your finish (Holloway House, etc). 5) For the long-term protection of your floors, consider a professional "buff/recoat" every 5-7 years on average. This Peachtree Street Condo previously had dark, brazilian cherry floors, which were beautiful, but too dark for the owner's taste. These light LVP floors, installed on a diagonal, totally changed the feel and flow of the space and she couldn't be happier!
