Boy did we put in a week! We completed a much-needed driveway renovation for a long-time client, spent a couple late evenings hauling unique loads, and the bulk of our time was actually applied to an exciting fabrication project and event prep. for our side hustle "Ralph's Barbecue." (I couldn't figure out the tag so search for it on FB @ Ralph's Barbecue - Watson, OK)

One more utility project is a wrap for us this week as RMEC showed up to feed primary wire and set our client's transformer and meter! We had it neatly backfilled just in time for the much-needed rain.

This week's story is ROCK SOLID! Including digging HACKS!

Like, it really is. We are almost finished with primary and secondary electric service to feed a new structure as well as running their water line.

I already excavated about six feet of ground in this particular spot when we build the pad and that put us right on top of a bed of sandstone. In just the first few feet of digging it was apparent that our machine was taking too much of a beating and we couldn't get the required 3' depth either. I was trying my hardest to avoid renting a hammer to bust through the rock since it would have cost the owner additional money. Just as I thought I was going to have to rent one, I looked over and saw my rock auger on the skid steer.

I was able to perforate the rock to the correct depth with the carbide-tipped AUGER and break it out with the trackhoe! Although slow, this worked for awhile. Until it didn't anymore. Thanks to CAT overnighting some mean ROCK TEETH to a dropbox and Joe Silk picking them up, I was able to finish the trench including the required 4' depth on the primary side.

I'm so glad that we were able to complete this on-budget without any additional charges to the homeowner!

We removed a couple of problematic trees last week for a repeat client that were probably a little large for our capability. However, we had committed to the project and got it done!

They were both 30-36" at the base and one of the stumps had to be split in half just to be able to load it!

We used our shop time this week to fabricate new lighting all the way around one of our trailers and repair a damaged tilt cylinder. Now it looks great at night and is easy to see when backing after-hours!

Hey y'all! It's been a looong time since we posted anything and we have had a bunch going on.

I want to draw your attention to ---"Ben Netherton Builds" ---where we have begun posting videos WEEKLY of various projects from automotive repairs/modifications, hobby creations, and home improvement/construction/DIY projects. Basically, I'm learning how to bring you along to enjoy the process of our most exciting projects!

A Few Things to Look For Around Your Home - WHEN THE ICE IS GONE:
-Broken or damaged roof penetrations (vent pipes stuck through your roof)
-Damaged boots (seals) around those penetrations
-Broken/damaged/leaky satellite dish mounts on the roof or fascia
-Physical damage to A/C units located under the eaves where ice fell from the roof
-Cracks or separation in sheetrock signifying structural movement behind it
-Steel web trusses with new kinks or twists on your barn/outbuilding/barndominium
-Broken or damaged rafters/purlins roof structure

We have unfortunately seen all of these issues in the last couple of days. The current ice accumulation is a greater amount of weight on your roof than it was likely designed for. Sliding sheets of ice, particularly on metal roofs, are hanging on to the vertical stacks and tearing them off. This has also caused roof damage in some cases.

Stay Safe! Be careful, especially on a ladder! If you suspect damage or need an evaluation, call a specialist qualified to handle the issues you suspect!

Remember SAFETY FIRST! It is still dangerously slick in many areas. Evaluations can wait until conditions are safe.
