Koch Hazard Architects, founded in 1961, is a professional service firm of 18 architects, planners and interior designers in Sioux Falls, SD. The firm has five licensed architects on staff, three of whom have at least their LEED AP certification. Two additional staff with Master of Architecture degrees are working towards licensure. Each Koch Hazard Architects project is a unique, innovative response to a specific set of client needs and project circumstances.

On Sept. 3, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe broke ground on the new Cheyenne-Eagle Butte school campus and our team was glad to be there for the celebration. Koch Hazard is proud to partner with Wold Architects and Engineers for this important project.

Thank you to the Tribal Leaders, school district, students, staff and families for welcoming us to Eagle Butte. We're excited to see the next chapter take shape.

After a summer of fun, our “Portal” mini golf hole is officially retired! ⛳️

It made its debut at Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. Open Streets in June, wrapped up the summer at Riverfest this month, and made a few appearances in between. We had a lot of fun bringing it out into the community and watching people of all ages give it their best shot.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and played!

Good design can make a difference. And sometimes, that difference reaches far beyond the building itself.

Working with nonprofit organizations has been an important part of Koch Hazard's story for decades. From creating safe, welcoming spaces for Children’s Home Society to designing environments that support the specialized work of LifeScape and helping Feeding South Dakota better serve families across our state, these projects challenge us to listen closely and design with purpose.

From a very first first day to a very last first day, every new school year marks the beginning of something.

As students across South Dakota head back to classrooms, we're proud to have played a part in creating places where they can learn, grow, explore, and prepare for what's next.

From early childhood spaces to middle and high schools to college campuses, we're grateful for the educators, school districts, universities and communities who have trusted us to help shape environments for learning.

Creativity inspires creativity!

Beginning tomorrow, we'll be introducing the talented student artists featured in our summer gallery exhibition. For the rest of the month we'll share their stories and showcase work from students at Augustana University, the University of Sioux Falls, South Dakota State University, and the University of South Dakota.

We're proud to provide a space that celebrates emerging artists and the creativity happening across our state.

The gallery is open during our regular business hours, and many of the featured pieces are available for purchase. We invite you to stop by, explore the exhibition, and support these talented artists.

We hope you'll follow along as we celebrate the next generation of South Dakota creatives.

Giving back is part of who we are.

Each quarter, our team steps away from the office to spend an afternoon serving our community. This quarter, we partnered with Feeding South Dakota, helping package fresh produce for families across the state.

Together, we helped package enough potatoes to impact 2,000 South Dakota families! A reminder that a few hours, a willing team, and a great community partner can make a real difference.

A big thank you to Feeding South Dakota for the incredible work they do every day and for giving us the opportunity to be part of their mission. We're proud to support organizations that strengthen our communities and grateful for an afternoon spent serving alongside one another.
