In this year, construction was ongoing for improvements to the University of South Dakota's Athletic Complex. 🏀👟⚽

Architecture Incorporated teamed with Populous on the master planning and ex*****on of this project. The feature of the project was the new 6,003 seat Sanford Coyote Sports Center arena with a NCAA competition court for basketball and volleyball, practice courts, and educational space for the Kinesiology and Sports Sciences, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy departments. The arena is connected to the south side of DakotaDome by a 200-person multi-purpose club that has views of the football field.

The Lillibridge Track Complex and First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex was included in the project. The track complex features a NCAA 400-meter 9-lane track, seating for 1,000, press box, and concessions. The soccer complex includes two soccer fields, seating for 800, and a press box.

Architecture Incorporated is in Bismarck, ND, for the North Dakota School Boards Association Annual Convention! 📚🎒

We're excited to connect with local educators, learn more about their facility needs and future plans, and explore how we can help turn their vision into reality. We look forward to meaningful conversations and building connections throughout the convention!

After exploring options for renovating the existing structure, and through several iterations and key design decisions, the final direction was to construction a new Central Bank branch on the existing site in Brookings, SD. 🏦🍀

The new building's design responds to the site's prominent traffic patterns to and from downtown, with glass corners oriented west toward the intersection of Main Street and east toward westbound traffic along 6th Avenue. The north façade creates a welcoming and clearly defined entrance for clients, while providing a more discreet entry for employees.

In 2014, the construction for the new South Dakota State University Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex wrapped up while construction began for the new Dana J. Dykhouse Football Stadium in Brookings, SD. 🏃🏼🏈

The Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex includes an 80-yard football practice field, a 300-meter track, baseball and softball practice areas, seating for 1,000, concessions, restrooms, and ancillary facilities for the university. This addition to and remodel of the Stiegelmeier Family Student-Athlete Center also includes a new weight room, hydrotherapy room, and athletic training space.

The stadium has capacity for 19,000 and includes new concessions, restrooms, and a west tower including a large club room, suites, and press level. The first phase was completed in time for the 2015 football season, and the remainder of the project was completed in time for the 2016 football season.

The AIA South Dakota Annual Convention is officially underway in Sioux Falls! 🎊

Our team has been making the most of the convention by networking with fellow design professionals from South Dakota, hearing from keynote speakers, and gaining valuable industry insights and fresh ideas.

This year is especially meaningful as AIA South Dakota celebrates its 75th anniversary! 👏🏼

A few highlights from the convention:

◾Mark Aspaas, former Partner and Architect at Architecture Incorporated, received the AIA Legacy Award in recognition for his leadership, advocacy, and dedication to the profession. Cheers to you, Mark!

◾Austin Huff, from our Sioux Falls office, was recognized for becoming an Architect in the state of South Dakota. He passed his exams, completed his hours, and is waiting for the official paperwork to be finalized. He also won $50 playing Plinko at the convention. Congratulations, Austin!

◾Architecture Incorporated sponsored the Mayoral Forum, bringing together the mayors of Mitchell, Box Elder, and Brookings to discuss about architecture, community development, and the critical community needs facing communities across the state.

The construction on Siouxland Libraries newest library, Prairie West Branch, was completed in 2013. 📚📖

Located to serve the expanding west side, the library is next to Discovery Elementary and Memorial Middle schools. The building was designed to maximize views of the adjacent Memorial Park from all spaces. In addition to the adult, teen, and children’s areas, the library has meeting rooms, study rooms, a vending area, and a drive-through book return.

This past Friday afternoon, Emma, Lauren, Holly, and Ally volunteered for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls for their annual Women Build event! 🔨👷🏼‍♀️🏠

The team spent their time helping with interior framing on a home in Sioux Falls, putting their skills to work measuring, sawing, and drilling.

Affordable housing impacts communities everywhere, and women and children are disproportionately affected. That's why the organization hosts Women Build each year to bring people together to help create safe, affordable housing for local families.

We're thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in our community and support the organization's mission!
