NOAA is now predicting that there's a 90%+ chance that El Niño becomes very strong this fall and winter. But what does that mean for Southern California homeowners? 🤔

A strong El Niño does not guarantee a flood of water crashing over your home. But it does mean is that conditions associated with El Niño are increasingly becoming more likely, and being prepared makes sense.

El Nino is not reason to panic, but it may be a good reason to finally put your roof back on your to-do list.

If you don't know the condition of your roof or have active leaks, contact August Roofing at 805-307-3281 for a free, no obligation roof evaluation. We're here to help.

During wildfire season, most people worry about flames, but few think about the smoke. 💨

Ash and airborne particles from wildfire events can:

🔥 clog gutters and valleys
🔥 stain roofing materials
🔥 reduce solar panel efficiency
🔥 hold moisture against roof surfaces

After wildfire season, it's worth checking your roof, even if the fire was miles away.

If you've ever found ash on your car or patio after a fire, just remember that your roof collects it too.

When it comes to a leak in your roof, the expensive part usually isn’t fixing it. It’s waiting and then having to fix the damage underneath.

In this episode of Roofers React, our team watches a roofer repairing a roof that had been leaking for a while. And what that roofer uncovers would frighten any homeowner. 🙈

It’s a good (although extreme) example of something we see every rainy season. A homeowner knows the roof has issues, but as long as the leak seems manageable, they put the project off. Then, suddenly, it's not so manageable any more.

If you know you have a roof problem, address it when you still have options. Repair it when a repair still makes sense. Replace it when the roof has reached that point. But don't let the next rainstorm make the decision for you.

If you need help assessing the condition of your roof, reach out to us for a free, no-obligation roof evaluation. We'd be happy to help.

The first big rainstorm will tell you whether your roof leaks. Unfortunately, it's an expensive way to find out. 😅

Once water gets through your roofing system, the problem may no longer be limited to the roof.

It can reach:
💧 Underlayment
🪵 Roof decking
🏠 Attic insulation
🎨 Drywall and ceilings
💡 Electrical components

If you've been putting off a known repair or replacement, get ahead of rainy season while you still have time to plan.

Send us a DM to schedule a free Roof Health Evaluation. Future-you will be glad you did. 😉

☀️ Will going solar eliminate your utility bill? ☀️

Not exactly. If a solar company tells you otherwise, there’s more you should know.

A properly designed home solar power system can potentially eliminate or dramatically reduce what you pay for electricity consumption. But as long as your home remains connected to the utility, you'll still have basic connection charges.

Many homeowners enter solar expecting a $0 utility bill because no one clearly explained how the system or their future bill would actually work.

Solar can be an incredible investment. But a good solar experience starts with knowing the truth.

Watch the video to learn what homeowners should expect when they make the switch. 👇

Some encouraging news for California homeowners: 👇

According to the California Department of Insurance, more insurance companies are committing to expand homeowners coverage in wildfire-risk areas across the state.

But there's an important part of the story: California's evolving insurance system is putting greater emphasis on homes that have been hardened against wildfire risk.

That can include improvements such as:
🔥 Class A fire-rated roofing
🔥 Ember-resistant vents
🔥 Defensible space around the home

If you're already considering replacing an aging roof, you need to know that the material you choose could have implications beyond how your home looks across insurance, resale, and more.

If you have questions about the condition of your roof, give us a call at 805-307-3281.

September has arrived and, for most families, the kids are back in school. The house is finally a little quieter. Now…what was that thing you were supposed to get done this summer? 😅

If “deal with the roof” is still sitting on your list, September is a great time to tackle it.

Getting repairs or replacement underway now means getting ahead of rainy-season demand and potentially avoiding a much bigger problem when the weather changes.

One less thing to worry about that is hanging over your head. Literally.
