Cochise County Master Gardeners The Master Gardener Program trains volunteers to provide research-based horticultural information to Welcome to Cochise County Master Gardeners web page.

We are affiliated with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Sierra Vista Campus. The Cochise County Master Gardeners support The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program by providing researched-based horticultural information appropriate for Cochise County environments about gardening, food production, landscaping, native plants, and environmental stewardship. We want to share information about desert gardening, xeriscaping, planting and more.

- Cost of the class? 2 levels.
Level A: $175. Asks for 50 hours volunteer time within 1 year of graduation, which is able to be achieved in several ways. 50 hours really does go quickly, and students say they learn as much by volunteering as they did in class. Level A includes MG certification, and a textbook.

Level B: $275. No volunteer hours required. No certification is granted. But, the same coursework and information is provided, plus the textbook.

"Drip Irrigation - You Can Do It!"

(We will use every bit of this time, but it will go fast!)

This is a perfect time of year to add a new system, or repair or augment an old one. Be ready for early Spring irrigation.
The temps are more pleasant for working outdoors!

Learn to build new, maintain, add to, repair, or replace a home irrigation system. It can be so simple!

Drip Irrigation:

3. Saves Time
4. Most important? Greatly improves the Health and Performance of your plants. You'll be amazed!

We'll also talk about proper irrigation and the importance and approach to winter irrigation.

Bulbs are so much fun.
Some of the showiest colors in the garden come from plants that grow from bulbs.
Fall bulbs which bloom in spring produce flowers that are often considered the
"Trumpets of Spring"

We'll discuss:
- Varieties of bulbs to plant now for Spring bloom.
- Differences between "fall bulbs" and "spring bulbs"
- How to plant bulbs correctly
- How to care for bulbs
- Ideas for using bulbs
- The differences among "bulbs", "corms", "tubers", "rhizomes, etc., because when reading about them, they are all generally called bulbs and it can be confusing! It's good to know the differences.
