Every time you flip a switch, electricity has already traveled an incredible journey - from power plants like Arsenal Hill in Shreveport, across the transmission system, through substations, and onto the local network serving homes, schools and businesses. Behind that journey is constant planning, maintenance and teamwork.
Shown is a 26,000-pound Unit 5 Circulator Water Pump recently reinstalled safely after a major rebuild at Arsenal Hill Power Plant in Shreveport. The pump moves cooling water through the plant's condenser, helping the turbine operate efficiently and generate electricity reliably.
What does that mean for customers? Greater reliability, improved efficiency, and a generating unit better prepared to meet demand when our communities need it most. From the powerhouse to the power line, thousands of pieces of equipment work together every day to keep the lights on. This rebuild is one example of the behind-the-scenes investments helping power our communities today and into the future.
