STORM UPDATE: Strong storms continue to push west across Shreveport/Bossier bringing torrential rain, frequent lighting and 40-50 mph wind gusts. Overall, the threat of severe weather and damaging wind has decreased.

One of my client’s claim was denied, but the conversation does NOT end there.

This adjuster had a “ladder assist” to help with the inspection, which is essentially a 3rd party inspector to climb the steep roofs and document all the damages.

I tell all of my clients that their adjuster can only work with what they are presented.

If the inspector is having a bad day or it’s extremely hot outside (was the case here), they may not take the proper time and effort to document all the damage to your property.

Truth is — your 3rd party inspector gets paid the same regardless of what he/she documents on the roof.

This claim was denied, and this is where I step in. In simplest terms, I am doing the inspectors job. I go to the property and document as much storm damage as I possibly can.

Even more than that, I document the roof’s condition and repairability. Everything I can to give the adjuster a full picture of what’s going on with this roof.

When a claim is denied, this is how I help my clients get a fair consideration. I’ve gotten many claims turned around this way.

**HOMEOWNERS BEWARE**

I will not disclose any names or companies, but I came out to perform this inspection in Mansfield after another roofer.

The homeowner told me that the last roofer was pushing him to file a claim with his insurance for hail damage.

After inspecting the roof, there was absolutely ZERO hail damage.

I was able to give this homeowner some peace of mind and save him a lot of time wasted.

Being in this industry, I know that some (not all) roofing companies actually PAY their contractors for every claim they file. This drives some contractors to get you to file a claim even if you don’t have legitimate damage.

It’s bad business and unethical.

As long as I have been in this industry I have had to work hard to build a reputation for myself that I am not one of those guys because there are so many out there. I have met with many insurance adjusters and even agents in my service areas and they all tell me how I am not like most roofers they have dealt with. Because this is a real issue.

So, if a contractor shows up at your doorstep offering a roof inspection — make sure that they are showing you plenty of photos of their findings when they are done.
