MY MIL SENT ME A HUGE BOX FOR MY BIRTHDAY – WHEN I OPENED IT, BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I WENT PALE.
Two weeks ago, it was my birthday. The day started beautifully. But then, in the afternoon, there was a knock at the door. A delivery man stood there with this massive, wrapped box that was so big it barely fit through the doorway.
I was stunned. As I started unwrapping it, a small note fell out, "From the wonderful woman who gifted you a husband." My heart sank – it was from my MIL.
Here's the thing. My MIL has never liked me. She always thought I wasn't good enough for her son, constantly reminding me of my modest background. When our baby was born, she didn't even visit and said she didn't approve of me as the mother of her grandchild.
So, when I saw the gift was from her, I was in shock. Was she finally trying to make peace?
I ripped off the wrapping paper, revealing a plain box underneath. But when I opened it, my heart dropped. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. MY HUSBAND SENT ME ON A "SPA WEEKEND" WHILE HE TOOK HIS MISTRESS ON OUR FAMILY VACATION — I MADE SURE THEY CAME CRASHING BACK TO EARTH.
My husband Brian was never the romantic type, so when he surprised me with a prepaid spa weekend, I was touched. “Relax,” he said. “We’ll leave for the family trip tomorrow — I’m getting an work award there, remember?”
The spa was bliss. Until I got a text from my friend Laura:
“WHERE ARE YOU? JUST SAW YOUR KIDS, BRIAN… AND SOME WOMAN ALL OVER HIM.”
Attached was a photo — Brian, our kids, his parents… and his ASSISTANT. Way too close.
“They were holding hands,” Laura whispered. “I even saw them kiss.”
My heart sank. The spa weekend was a setup. He’d sent me away so he could parade his mistress on our family vacation.
I didn’t cry — I booked a flight.
That night, at his award ceremony, I arrived just in time. Before the speeches, I slipped a sealed note to his boss.
“Brian wanted this read aloud,” I said sweetly. He winked. So, when Brian’s name was called, the CEO started reading. ⬇️
