💧 When Experience Saves the Day 💧
Not every water service leak has to mean tearing up a customer’s basement floor.
We were called out to a home where the main water service had developed a leak beneath the foundation wall. The original water line had been installed under the footing, approximately 14 feet below grade, making a traditional repair extremely invasive and potentially compromising the home’s foundation.
After evaluating the situation, we chose a better solution.
Instead of breaking through the basement slab, we cored through the basement wall approximately one foot below grade, rerouted a brand-new 1” pex water service into the basement, and ran it overhead to tie into the existing riser. The original underground water line was permanently abandoned and capped at both ends, eliminating the leak without disturbing the foundation.
The outside work brought its own challenges. With multiple conflicting utilities in the area—including irrigation lines, two high-pressure gas mains, and electrical utilities—mechanical excavation simply wasn’t an option.
Our crew hand dug the entire water service to safely navigate around every utility and avoid unnecessary damage. It wasn’t easy in the middle of the July Georgia heat, but the guys put in the work and got the job done safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the property. The sod was laid back, and other than a cheaper water bill you can barely tell we were here!
At Redline Plumbing & Septic, we don’t just fix plumbing problems—we find the safest, smartest, and most cost-effective solution for every customer.
