If you’ve been thinking about getting chickens but raising chicks feels like too much work—or you’ve heard the horror stories about buying from big box stores and ending up with all roosters—have no fear!

We’re starting a new yearly rotation and have a group of great laying hens ready for new homes. There’s nothing wrong with these ladies—they’ve simply done their time with us, and to stay profitable we rotate in younger birds.

These hens should still produce around 300 brown eggs per year for the next few years. Just 3–4 hens can easily supply eggs for a family of four.

We can also deliver and help make sure you’re set up and ready.

Didn’t have time to grab a video, and it’s still blowing pretty good out, but our $400 greenhouse took a beating last night. Honestly we’re lucky it didn’t end up in the neighbor’s yard. I’m just glad it’s still here.

Good thing I’ve got a degree in making do… and a bad habit of keeping stuff most people would throw away. Two 20-ft chain link top rails, about 30 zip ties, and a few ratchet straps later and she’s standing again.

It ain’t pretty, but it’ll hold for now. Hopefully it’ll get us by until we can figure out a more permanent fix.

If anyone’s got ideas on how to beef up the connection in the picture without replacing the whole pipe, I’m all ears.
