Not every classroom has desks, and not every lesson comes from a textbook.
On World Teachers’ Day, we want to recognize all teachers — but especially those teaching skilled trades and hands-on classes in our middle schools, high schools and technical programs.
At DPW, the importance of passing these skills from one generation to the next is personal. David is a 5th-generation carpenter, and William is now the 6th.
For generations, young people learned trades by working alongside someone willing to teach them. Today, our carpentry, construction, welding, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, automotive and other trade programs continue that tradition by giving students an opportunity to discover what they're capable of building, fixing and creating with their own hands.
College is a great path for many students. The skilled trades are a great path, too. Young people deserve the opportunity to be introduced to both.
So today, we're especially thankful for the teachers and instructors who put tools into students' hands, teach them how to use them safely, and show them that a skilled trade can become a career they can be proud of.
Happy World Teachers’ Day from DPW Contractors.
