Reminder - as of today, Monday August 24th, all traffic along the corridor below will be rerouted!

Please plan accordingly as we work to seamlessly move this project along in preparation for the upcoming NCDOT Paving Project along S. Lafayette Street!

Two Brothers Utilities will be contracting with the City of Shelby, North Carolina on the below referenced project. Traffic routes may be severely impacted for a duration of time. We ask that you please plan accordingly and pardon the progress!

Traffic Detour Notice - South Lafayette Street Waterline Replacement

Beginning on August 24 and running through October 5, South Lafayette Street will be closed to through traffic between the Broad Street/South Morgan Street area and Ramblewood Drive/Morton Street, while the City replaces aging waterline along South Lafayette Street.

Motorists should follow the posted detour routes shown on the map and allow for extra travel time. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses within the construction area.

For a map showing the area where work will be conducted and the designated detour routes, visit www.cityofshelby.com/news.

Once the waterline project is complete, NCDOT plans to repave South Lafayette Street. This repaving is expected to be completed before the end of November.

🌟 1 5 Y E A R S 🌟

This week, we celebrate another milestone - made possible by the hustle and heart that connects the communities that we serve and the partnerships that we’ve built over the last decade and a half.

July, 2010 - Following Henry’s retirement of 30+ years in business, the “Two Brothers” returned from their annual vacation to turn the page on a new chapter and a rebrand that would later catapult growth and prosperity for generations to come.

For those who have shared in the vision, worked beside us along the way and experienced the journey with us, we thank you!

Hard work, integrity and family values continue to lead us as we step forward into the next 15 years, and beyond. We are eternally grateful!

Congratulations to Dominique Grindstaff for being voted by his peers at our Employee Appreciation luncheon ⭐️ for the second quarter in a row ⭐️ for making a positive impact on his crew and within our company!

His name gets brought up often, singing praises of his work ethic, attitude and eagerness to learn and for that, we are thankful and proud!

Rounding out a terrific year with our crew and looking forward to exciting opportunities ahead in the new year!

“Thank You” doesn’t begin to express our gratitude for what these special folks pour into our company day in and day out to make it what it is! Celebrating you is a joy! As we close the chapter of 2023, we can’t help but reflect on an immense loss that our work family endured this year. The sudden loss of a friend and co-worker of nearly 25 years, Elpidio “Poot” Ledezma-Flores. A void that won’t be filled but memories cherished forever!

And lastly, a special “thank you” to Jason Walker and The Depot Cafe for an incredible meal prepared for our Christmas Party! The food is always amazing and this time was no different! We ended the night with games and fellowship! A blessed evening together to kick off the Christmas holiday!

Elpidio Ledezma-Flores
1957-2023

It is with great sadness that, along with his family, we mourn the sudden loss of one of our very own! Elpidio was a pillar in our workforce for over 25 years, first under Henry Wesson Construction and since under Two Brothers Utilities for the last 13 years. He gave great meaning to the word “loyal” as he exhibited this trait every day over the last nearly three decades. He began his career with us in the field alongside our first generation, continued through the second and worked the last 5 years with our third generation. He and his crew worked seamlessly together, much like a well-oiled machine. If you’ve ever been apart of this industry, you know the value to a crew that works in this manner. We share wonderful memories that end in a smile (or a laugh). What an honor to have gotten to work along side him for nearly three decades, and to call this man our friend. If only we had known last Friday would be our last together. We know he found the nearest shade tree for his afternoon siesta!

Appropriate? Maybe not, but forever remembered to many as “Poot.”

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Two Brothers Utilities! ✨

Last week, we had the opportunity to gather and celebrate the ending of another incredible year in the utility industry but most importantly these people here that keep our operation running like a well-oiled machine! On most days, anyway! It’s teamwork, built on leadership and pride in our work, progress over perfection and investing in our people. What a blessing each of them are!

We enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by Jason Walker at The Depot, tasteful music by Mason Cole and a fun trivia game consisting of questions like “how many feet from the front door to the mailbox of our shop” or “the three employees with the longest years of service” which combined equal nearly 75 years! The winners of our trivia game won gift cards donated by our pipe supplier, David Lenoir with Hayes Pipe Supply!

We take this time to reflect on the relationships that have long been established in this business and those that are new! For it is partnerships with municipalities, engineers and subcontractors day in and day out that keep our wheels spinning, quite literally and figuratively!

Cheers to a new year of doing the same thing - good, honest work in the water and sewer business. But also, to a year of learning how to fill in the gaps and reach new places! Growing, not just by a number, but in efficiency and opportunity in the work place! Let’s get to work!
