Thank you to every ranger, volunteer, and employee who works tirelessly to preserve God's breathtaking creation. Because of your dedication, millions of people have the opportunity to experience the beauty, history, and wonder of our national parks—today and for generations to come.
August 25 marks the anniversary of the National Park Service, established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916. For more than a century, our national parks have provided unforgettable places for families to hike, camp, fish, and gather around a campfire.
To celebrate, participating national parks that normally charge an entrance fee offer free admission today, making it the perfect opportunity to get outside and explore.
As you enjoy our parks, remember to do your part:
✔ Burn fires only where they're permitted.
✔ Buy or gather firewood responsibly.
✔ Never move firewood long distances.
✔ Leave every campsite cleaner than you found it.
