⚠️ALERT⚠️
Here we go, this is looking very likely to happen now folks and this will be bad. Lets get into it.
A large storm system will move into the area Friday, we will start off with seeing some rain throughout the day. High temperatures in the 50s will start to fall sometime early afternoon as the cold front comes through. The rain will begin to switch over to freezing rain by the overnight hours (After 9 PM as of now), this will start to freeze on surfaces FAST as our temperatures fall super quickly to hard freeze territory. That freezing rain will last through Saturday morning, sometime Saturday we will see a switch over to some sleet and late Saturday night into early Sunday moring we see a switch to snow possibly but that still needs to be fine tuned.
The duration of this event will be prolonged (moisture wise), we will be seeing rain fall from the sky while were in the mid 20s…guys I hope yall understand how devastating that will be. Roads will be impassable, power lines will be heavy and trees will be extremely heavy. Please prepare NOW for a significant Winter Storm. Prepare for power outages, prepare to be at home for over 48 hours.
We drop below freezing sometime Friday evening and won’t make it above until sometime Monday morning..keep that in mind, anything that falls during Saturday will stick until Monday so I personally expect delays or closures school wise.
Heres how you can prepare:
Make sure you have plenty of blankets if you do not have a back up source of electricity (generator) Have candles, flash lights, lighters, extra batteries.
Easy to eat food, that doesn't require cooking in case you do lose power and do not have a back up source. (Canned foods, fruits, and vegetables, bread, peanut butter and jelly, etc.)
Prepare your homes by making sure your outdoor spigets are covered. Your pipes are covered if they are on outter walls. Leave your water dripping if the temp falls below 32°F.
Make sure you have a case or two of water.
AND MOST IMPORTANT, Stay off the roads this weekend. Beginning Friday night I wouldn’t want anyone out there driving until Monday afternoon..
Stay tuned here at CCLW, there is still room for changes but that time is shrinking quickly and the models just keep getting more aggressive.
