SUPER Kalee
SUPER Kalee
Hello Friends,
Julie Here. ISO short -term housing in Seattle area.
I am reaching out for the first time to friends in the Seattle area.
Kalee, a very dear friend that I have known for over fifteen years, was recently diagnosed with a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. She underwent brain surgery a week after Thanksgiving. The neurosurgeon was able to remove about 80% of the tumor. Of the remaining 20%, 50% is inoperable due to its location. Kalee and her husband Scott flew down to the Mayo clinic in Arizona last week to get a second opinion from the best neurosurgeon in the country. He told them that there are 2 options: another resection surgery followed by proton and chemotherapy, or just proton and chemotherapy. Because of the toll the last surgery took on Kalee the family is discussing postponing another resection and continuing with just the proton and chemotherapy for now.
This is where my call-to-arms comes in...
Kalee will have to be in Seattle five days a week for a six week period. We all live on the peninsula, and out here there are no options for proton therapy.
We are currently looking for a short, six-week rental in Seattle starting as soon as next week.
If anyone has a lead on something like this please get ahold of me via messenger or phone 206-330-7683. I am a firm believer in the power of networking. I also know that over the years the world has brought me close to so many amazing people. It could be that one of you has an apartment in your basement, or you or a friend have an Air B-n-B that is slow to rent right now because of the off-season...any of these ideas would be helpful. Just one note that I must present before I close....Kalee will be taking chemotherapy medication during this time as well, the chances are she is not going to feel well as many of you can imagine...that being said take into consideration the place would need to be a calm and fairly quiet atmosphere. I have talked with Scott briefly about what I can do to support them in this. We discussed me spending two days out of the week in Seattle with her so that he can either work and/or be home to keep some sense of normalcy in their two-year-old son Wyatt's life. Either way Scott or I would be there with Kalee the entire time.
Thank you all ahead of time for any leads you may have.
I wish you all the very best,
Sincerely,
Julie
