đź’¦Jacksonville Zoo Manatee River Habitat đź’¦
We’re proud to have built the life support system for the new Manatee River Habitat at the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens—the largest manatee rescue center in Florida.
This state-of-the-art conservation facility was built to rescue, rehabilitate, recover, and release manatees back into the wild, providing a safe environment for these incredible animals while advancing critical conservation efforts.
Project Highlights:
🔹 Over 330,000 gallons of water across 7 interconnected pools
🔹 Capacity to rehabilitate up to 20 manatees at one time
🔹 More than 1 mile of underground HDPE piping, up to 24 inches in diameter, installed in multiple layers to support multiple life support systems
🔹 38 custom sand filters, each over 12 feet tall
🔹 27 pumps delivering continuous circulation and exceptional water quality
🔹 Energy-efficient life support systems engineered for long-term performance and reliability
From the natural-looking river habitat guests experience to the extensive infrastructure hidden below ground, every component was carefully engineered to create a world-class environment for both the animals and their caregivers.
Projects like this showcase what’s possible when innovative engineering meets conservation.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this incredible habitat to life. We are honored to play a role in protecting one of Florida’s most iconic species.
