We are known for Road Work, but did you know we have been a part of many of the Trail Projects around the Upstate? From the Green Crescent in Clemson to the Doodle Trail in Pickens/Easley, and now the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville. We take pride in being involved in constructing these fun pathways.

Truck Driver positions will include a variety of tasks involved in road construction projects. Such tasks may include: driving dump trucks hauling road construction materials such as dirt, asphalt, pipe sand and maintenance stone as well as driving lowboy trailer trucks hauling equipment, and other commercial vehicles involved in construction.

Work Environment:
Full-time positions for a family company based in Seneca, South Carolina. We generally work within driving distance from our home office location, so all employees are home each night. Our crews meet at a centrally located shop each morning and disperse to various job sites. As a small family company all of our employees work together. During certain points of jobs trucking may not be needed as much and truck drivers may be asked to assist with other duties such as traffic control and other site maintenance to assist the foreman and other supervisors.

Applicant Requirements:
-Must be able to work 40 hours Monday – Friday.
- Applicants must be willing and able to work in construction environments which can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet and noisy.
-All applicants must be 23 years of age or older and possess a valid CDL driver’s license.
-Must have or provide own transportation to and from work.
-Applicants may be subject to a background check and Must be able to pass a drug screen and qualify through e-verify.
-Must be willing and able to adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.

Pay/Benefits:
Position includes competitive pay based on experience and may include opportunities for the following:

Construction Crew Member positions will include a variety of general labor tasks involved in road construction projects. Such tasks may include:
- Manual shovel and other tool work in preparing surfaces for road construction.
- Setting and maintaining traffic control devices and assisting with flagging operations.
- Manual labor required for installing storm water drainage pipe systems.
- Loading and unloading materials.
- Equipment operation opportunities
(training provided) consisting of roller,
skid-steer, loader, off-road trucks, etc.
- Providing assistance to foreman and other supervisors as needed.
- Pipe laser experience a plus, but NOT a requirement.
- Equipment operation and mechanical experience a plus, but NOT a requirement.

The Mechanic’s Assistant position will include a variety of tasks involved with maintaining and servicing all types of heavy equipment involved in construction.

We're excited to announce that we've been selected by Crowder Constructors to join their team for the SCDOT Emergency Project to repair and replace the US 76 Bridge in Westminster.

We have partnered with JJ Farms to take on the clearing and grading scopes of the project. We've hit the ground running and are already making great progress. The clearing is underway, and in less than a week since starting the log jam has already been removed thanks to the hard work of the legendary James Smith.

This project is especially meaningful to us, as The Thrift Family and The Smith Family have worked together for generations. We're proud to continue this tradition of collaboration and excellence.

Congratulations to our very own Lauren Merritt for being named to the Class of 2024’s Top 20 Under 40 by the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce.

Lauren Merritt serves as the Executive Assistant to the President of Thrift Development Corporation, a family-owned licensed general contractor in Seneca, South Carolina. In this role, she assists the president with day-to-day objectives while also assisting other members of the company’s executive team with various tasks. A graduate of West Oak High School, Merritt has almost a decade of experience in administrative work. She is also an entrepreneur and established her own business, alongside her mother, Desert Stream Candle Company.
Merritt stays involved in her community as a member of the Keowee Bowmen Archery Club and White Water Archery. She is an active outdoorsman and was the 2023 SCAA Circuit Champion – Women’s Bowhunter Novice.
Merritt lives in Westminster with her husband and two children. She is a member of Seneca Church of God and volunteers with the Kids Ministry.

We loved having the chance to host All Pro Dad - Northside Elementary. This group of Dads and Kids visited one of our construction sites where kids got the chance the sit on and drive a bulldozer!

While we hate to see first-hand the devastation that Hurricane Helene caused to our surrounding communities, we are honored to have a hand in some of the restoration efforts.

Last week our crews completed an Emergency Job for SCDOT which included three locations of roadway washouts on Highway 178 and Gap Creek Road in Marrietta, SC. We were given 30 days to complete the work and our crews completed everything in just 16 days to successfully reopen the road to the public.

Hats off to all of the crew members who completed this project.
