Not all roofing companies install roofs to building code, and not all building inspectors pay attention to details.
Had either of these two parties done their job properly this customer wouldn’t be in the situation they are currently in with the insurance company after a recent renewal inspection on a 2 year old roof.
As of January 1st 2020, flat roofs must have positive drainage or have a tapered system installed to meet the building code. Ponding water on a flat roof damages the materials as well as the structure compounding the issue.
We see it all too often that roofing companies take advantage of customers by undercutting others prices just to get a job and cut major corners in the work, many get lucky and skate by building inspections from city officials, so get caught and have to pay to redo things properly. But eventually the customer is stuck in a bad spot with the insurance company because the roof didn’t meet code at the time of the install and cannot be covered by their policy until it is remedied.
Give us a call today for a free roof inspection, don’t let your insurance company have a reason to drop you, they look hard enough for them already.
