This home sits back in the trees, and the goal was to make the most of that view. We refreshed the exterior siding and put in new windows and entry doors, and the whole front of the house opens right up to the woods around it.

New windows do more than look good. They seal up tight, cut down drafts, and let in all that natural light without letting the weather in. Paired with the new doors and clean siding, the place feels solid from the outside in.

We rebuilt this elevated deck from the ground up, and it turned the whole back of the house into the best seat on the property.
The old structure came out and a new one went in — solid framing, a clean set of stairs down to the yard, and railing that keeps the view wide open instead of blocking it. Sitting up here, you look straight out over the fields, which is exactly what a deck like this should do.
It’s a big space with room to spread out, relax, and take in the country around it. Built right, and built to hold up for years.

One backyard, two ways to enjoy it.

Up top, an open deck with black aluminum railing — the spot for grilling, sun, and dinner outside. Underneath, we screened in the space below into a covered room with a ceiling fan, so there’s shade, bugs stayed out, and somewhere to relax when the weather turns.

Same footprint, double the living space. That’s the kind of thinking that makes a deck work harder for you.
