Picking the right hedge comes down to three things: how much privacy you want, how soon you want it, and how much trimming you're up for down the road

Here are the ones that perform reliably in our cool, wet climate:
🌳 Boxwood – Slow grower that holds a clean, formal shape. Watch for boxwood blight.
🍃 English laurel – Fast privacy screening, but it needs regular height and width control.
🌿 Portuguese laurel – Refined privacy hedge that's easier to manage long-term than English laurel.
🌲 Emerald Green arborvitae – A popular narrow evergreen screen. Don't cut deep into the old brown wood.
🍂 Photinia (Red Tip) – Colorful and fast. Give it airflow and watch for leaf spot in damp spots.
🌴 Leyland cypress – Very fast and tall. Needs aggressive height management over time.
🌱 Yew – Shade-tolerant, prunes well, and holds its shape over years.
🔴 Holly – Dense, durable evergreen screening with a structured look.
