Rural Washington homeowners this could be big news for you!
A new Washington law, HB 1345, could open the door to building a detached ADU on certain rural properties where it may not have been possible before.
For qualifying properties, the minimum acreage may be reduced from 5 acres to 1 acre, creating new possibilities for multigenerational living, rental income, aging in place, and making the most of your rural property.
Of course, not every property will qualify, and local zoning, septic, water, access, and site requirements still matter.
