Restoring more than a building — bringing back its story.

Every scroll, every corbel, every hand-carved detail on this facade was put there with intention decades ago. Our job isn't just to waterproof and repair — it's to honor that craftsmanship and bring it back to what it was meant to be. This kind of work takes patience, a steady hand, and a crew that actually cares about getting the details right.

Proud of what our team is doing here. 🧱

Bobby V was a special person in my journey as a craftsman, he was teacher, also a leader. He would chew my ass regularly, hold me to a high standard and I asked him why one day. He said because I can trust you, you care about the finished product. Weird way to show someone trust but he was old school like that. I will never forget him telling me one day to start my own business. I asked him “do you think I can do that” 🤯
Well I know he is smiling down on the journey of Rife Masonry today! He was a one of kind, legend in his own right! It’s been 14 years since he passed and I keep this when I need a little motivation from Bob! Rest easy buddy! 🙏🏼

Restoring a piece of history, one detail at a time.

This historic school cornice cap stone units needed more than a patch job. Our crew installed helical pins to reinforce the masonry from within, re-pointed the stonework to match the original craftsmanship, and finished every joint with a durable caulking system to keep water out for years to come.

It's not glamorous work — but it's the kind of work that keeps a building standing for another hundred years. Along with keeping the kids and staff safe. We take pride in restoring these structures with the same care and craftsmanship they were built with.

Rusted steel, real damage. 🧱

That black streak of rust bleeding down the brick? That's a failing steel angle iron (lintel) — the hidden support holding up the brick above a window opening. Once it corrodes, it expands, cracks the masonry, and lets water in. Left alone, it only gets worse.

Swipe to see the fix: we opened up the brick, cut out the rusted angle, installed new flashing and a fresh galvanized lintel, and reset the brick soldier course above the opening — good for decades to come.

📍 Another one in the books for the crew.

Helical anchors are only as good as the installation behind them.
When concrete coping or parapet elements start to separate, shift, or show signs of movement, helical anchors are one of the most reliable solutions for re-anchoring masonry to the substrate. But the process matters just as much as the product.
Here's what proper helical anchor installation actually looks like: precise layout and spacing, drilling clean holes, vacuuming out all dust and debris before injection (critical — contamination kills bond strength), setting the epoxy port, and torque-testing each anchor to verify it's hitting the required load. Every step documented. No shortcuts.
That blue tape you see along the parapet? Every mark is a location mapped out before a single hole is drilled. This isn't guesswork — it's engineered repair done right.
The view from up here isn't bad either. 🌊

Your building's exterior is its first line of defense — and most property owners don't think about it until water already got in.
Building envelope coatings do more than make a facade look fresh. They seal out moisture, prevent cracking from freeze-thaw cycles, and protect the structural integrity of the wall system beneath. Ignore the envelope long enough, and you're looking at spalling concrete, corroded rebar, and water damage that costs 10x more to fix than proper maintenance would have.
At Rife Masonry, we specialize in restoring and recoating building envelopes on mid- and high-rise structures — the kind of work that requires suspended scaffolding, the right materials, and a crew that knows what they're doing at height.
Don't wait for the leaks to tell you there's a problem. 🏗️

Full Circle.
Back in 2011, I was competing in the BAC Local 1 apprentice competition—learning the craft, sharpening a skill set, and figuring out what was possible if I stayed committed and believed in myself.
Fast forward to today, and Kevin Matamoros is the first of many Rife Masonry employees to put his skills to the test and compete in that same apprentice school. Seeing our team represented in the same space where I learned the trade is a powerful, full-circle moment.
I’m proud of the people we employ, the craftsmanship they bring every day, and the path this trade continues to provide—real skills, real challenges, and real opportunity.
Honored to be part of a craft that keeps pushing us to be better.
