We develop imaginative solutions to the functional requirements of a project, incorporating energy and water efficiency, a flowing sense of space, and strong relationship to the landscape and natural light. ALCOVA architecture 8 projects. QUEEN ANNE's house - new construction 2014

East Queen Anne offers some of the most spectacular views of downtown Seattle and Lake Union, but it comes with a price: steep slopes.
The new house reuses a portion of the original foundations to help minimize the excavations. The new building inched South, but grows mainly up, to reach the best views.
The reversed floor plan, is topped with an additional floor dedicated to the main suite, all open toward the views.
After originally designing the house in 2012 for the first owners, ALCOVA was lucky enough to work with the second owners and introduce, among other things, an elevator shafts.

The remodel freed up and reversed the stairs between basement and first floor (once enclosed in walls and doors), opening them to the rec room below and the -now more airy- hallway upstairs. Custom design for the railing, lighting, wood details, add to the ensable, and connect them to the living spaces.
