A first look at our completed Greenwood Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel project.
 
The kitchen was designed around the way our clients actually use the space, with dedicated storage for appliances, a new pantry, and a lowered butcher-block section of the island that creates a comfortable spot for gathering (and kneading bread).
 
In the dining area, a new banquette adds seating and a custom bar cabinet provides w**e and glassware storage, along with a special place to display family heirlooms.
 
Finally, in the bathroom, a new steam shower and vanity create a relaxing retreat.
 
We’ll be sharing more from this project soon, including the finished photos. Can’t wait!

Planning a remodel? There’s a lot to think about beyond the big design decisions.

We recently invited professional organizer Kari Lonczak, founder of .organizing, to share her perspective on what homeowners should consider before getting too far into the remodeling process.

Kari knows this from both sides: she helps homeowners create spaces that are easier to use and maintain, and she recently put that perspective to work in her own kitchen remodel.

In her guest post, Kari shares seven recommendations for approaching a remodel with everyday life in mind—from decluttering before you design to measuring what you actually own and thinking about how your space needs to work for the life you're building toward.

And if you're thinking, I don't even know what my layout should be yet, that's okay. You don't have to have all the answers before you start. That's part of what our designers are here to help with.

A kitchen should work for the way you live every day.

What could your Seattle basement become?
 
An extra bedroom. A comfortable living space. A home office. Another bathroom. A home gym. A playroom or guest suite. Depending on your home and property, it could even become an ADU.
 
The possibilities are there, but sometimes there’s one big obstacle: headroom.
 
If your basement or crawl space is too short to become the living space you want, there are a couple of ways to create more height. A basement dig out lowers the floor, while a house lift raises the home so work can happen underneath it.
 
The same approach doesn’t work for every home. Your existing foundation, site conditions, zoning and height limits, exterior design, and goals for the space all play a role in deciding which option makes the most sense.

Proof that a laundry room doesn't have to be an afterthought. 👏

What was once a simple utility room is now one of the hardest-working spaces in the home. Navy Canyon Creek Cabinet Company cabinetry, quartz countertops, an undermount sink, a hanging station, and a timeless Ann Sacks Seattle backsplash transformed this room into a space that's both organized and beautiful.

Would doing laundry be a little more enjoyable in a room like this? We think so. 😉
