Founded by Mark Ward, UPWARD is a Seattle-based Architecture and Interior Design collaborative that believes good design is also good business. We’re creative problem solvers and strategic thinkers who contribute design, business acumen and technical proficiency in equal measure. We remember the original promise of our vocation: that our skill and creativity are intended to be in service of our cl

ients’ endeavors and ambitions. Our role is to reveal and give form and order to ideas, not simply to look for opportunities to impose our own. And we want that excitement to be contagious, to spread through our team and community to help foster better built environments. Our best work comes when we forge meaningful relationships with our clients. It’s important for us to connect on a human level – to collaborate with people we enjoy working with, laughing with and creating with.

Upward designed this metal arts workshop for a private fabricator on a wooded site near Maple Valley, Washington. The 4,800 SF facility is organized around a high-bay metal fabrication shop that accommodates welding, cutting, grinding, and material staging.

We’re thrilled to celebrate 10 years of Upward Architecture.

Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of designing thoughtful spaces, building meaningful relationships, and growing alongside an incredible community of clients, collaborators, and friends. It’s a milestone we’re proud of - and the perfect moment to share what’s next.
