inspired by the shellfish native to bellingham bay, .us outpost borrows its form and logic from and oyster.

the (accessible!) mobile sauna’s tough, weathered shell folds tightly to protect what’s within - a warm, living core. in its closed state, the corten and weathered-wood clad exterior reads as a compact, self-contained vessel, streamlined for travel and resilient against weather. when opened, the steel elements unfold into use: the ramp, stair, and operator’s booth extend like the hinge of a shell, exposing the softer cedar interior.

design is progressing on the “house in a greenhouse” project in Vermont! the inner-house is divided into a series of smaller volumes, each dedicated to a distinct function. these blocks are then separated within the larger green-house shell, allowing for daily rituals to spill into and engage with the moderated microclimate, layering the interplay between indoor and outdoor connection.

an interior refresh for a shopping mall with strong bones, including abundant natural light from large skylights and incredible 1970s heavy timber trusses. the proposed public seating areas echo these overhead timber-forward elements with warm wood furniture finishes, custom salvaged tree light fixtures, and soft linen accents that invite light and shadow to animate the spaces throughout the day.
