Appearing, 20 x 16”, oil on panel, spring 2026 (Shown low res here)

My friend Brooke was visiting WA for the holidays back in December. We met up in Enumclaw to have lunch and shop with some friends. There is an antique store there that I wanted to go look for subjects to paint in, so I explained how my initial process works when waiting for an object to get my attention. As we were having a look around, nothing was grabbing me despite there being many gorgeous old things. Brooke called from around a corner. She held up an old glass pear to show me. It was perfect. I love pears. I posed it with a real pear and a knife on a cutting board from my kitchen. Because not everything is as it appears.

Swipe to see the original object. 🍐

Unveiling the second layer of “It Must Be Love”, 16x20”, oil on panel, WIP. It’s still the same chocolate that I started with too. With time and practice, I’ve finally learned it’s best to not eat the still life until completion. Hoping to finish it on Valentine's Day so I can finally indulge!

Hot Sauce and Goodwill, 16x20”, oil on panel, 2026. (Glazed & 72dpi in the photo)

I was drawn to the shape of an Italian hot sauce bottle in my refrigerator, and after cleaning it up, it became a bud vase. Much later, I found a deep glossy red vase at a Goodwill store in north Seattle. Its color caught my eye as I searched for unique objects to paint. When the two landed side by side in my kitchen, they felt naturally complementary.
Soon after, I came across the richest red carnations at my local Trader Joe’s. Their hue and saturation were nearly identical to the vase. I brought them home, set up the still life, and painted it in my studio. I intended to finish it before the Christmas holiday as the colors felt appropriate. With holiday travel back to the east coast, it was just finished yesterday. ❤️

Three Callas, 12x16”, oil on panel, completed November 2025.

This piece is about beauty in simplicity. I found this cobalt blue vase with simple angular shapes running down the sides at a Goodwill in Seattle. It paired beautifully with some bright yellow callas I bought at Trader Joe’s - both for the bright primary colors and the lovely, clean, flowing lines. Together, they created a color story about nature and created new light and shapes in the sunlight on my deck; the shadow becoming a third object in their union.

My 3 postcards for the postcard show are finally dry & going out today. Getting a space heater sure helps! The show opens Dec 13th in Portland at Brassworks Gallery on NE Glisan. All postcards are $100 and you can take them with you after purchase. Online shopping is available after the show opening night too. It will be fun to see if these olives go to 3 friends, 3 family members, 3 total strangers, 1 bar owner... Only time will tell!

'Happy Hour Triptych', oil on 4x6"postcards, 2025. Enjoy!
