For over 20 years, DeForest Architects has helped guide clients to new adventures in design. Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to work in some of the most beautiful natural places in the Pacific Northwest, California, Hawaii, and throughout the US. In appreciation, we’ve made a donation to support the amazing work that the Washington Trails Association does to mobilize everyone who loves the outdoors to explore, steward, and champion trails and public lands.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING and THANK YOU to all of our clients, collaborators, family, and friends for helping us reach new heights.

🔄 Design isn’t a noun—it’s a verb.

At DeForest Architects, real architecture happens in motion: sketching, building models, iterating ideas, searching for what feels right—not just what looks right. It takes collaboration, curiosity, and a sandbox mindset.

Gone are the days of glossy, one-way presentations. Instead, DeForest invites you into the process—from pen and paper to digital tools and cardboard models—because the work we do together shapes something meaningful.

“Design isn’t about imposing a look—it’s about discovering what functions well, inspires joy, and connects people, places, and ideas.”

Curious to see the design process in action? DeForest is launching a video series called “Design as a Verb,” starting with the innovative Swiss Army Knife House. It’s not just about the result—it’s about how ideas evolve.
