Representatives from the Scranton Half Marathon recently gathered with members of Scranton’s Little Leagues and Tripp Park Little League Softball to present donations from the race proceeds. ⚾️🎉

A total of $35,882 was presented to the seven participating organizations, with each group receiving $5,126. An additional $35,882 from the race proceeds was contributed to the Scranton Half Marathon Foundation, which awards grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Lackawanna County.

Those on hand for the presentation include (from L to R): Matt Byrne, Scranton Half and South Scranton Little League, Tony Cantafio, Green Ridge Baseball Association, Brian Wallace, Tripp Park Little League Softball , Ted Zwiebel, Scranton Half, Chris Healy, Connell Park Little League, Tom Minora, Scranton Half, Kayla Bunevitch, North Scranton Little League, Tim Holmes, Scranton Half, Ryan Collins, West Scranton Little League, Tim Wolff, East Scranton Little League, Gary Jones, Scranton Half, and Pat Fricchione, Scranton Half.

Since its inception, the Scranton Half Marathon has made community involvement and giving back an important part of its mission. Through the race, organizers strive to encourage health and fitness while celebrating Scranton and Lackawanna County, including the area’s natural scenery, local heritage, and cultural history.

A new chapter is taking shape in Scranton’s Hill Section!🏡

Eight brand-new townhouses are going up along the 1000 block of Wheeler Avenue, bringing new housing to a property that sat vacant for years, including the former Heil’s Place site.

Developer Christian Nicolais of CKPA LLC hopes to have the two-bedroom townhouses ready by September 1st. A new laundromat is also planned for the property, adding another much-needed amenity to the neighborhood.

It’s an exciting transformation for a long vacant corner in the Hill Section!
