For kids 5–14, it's the second leading cause of unintentional injury death. At 15, drowning rates for boys nearly triple.

As kids grow, confidence often outpaces skill. Keep building swim skills, talk with teens about risk, always swim with a buddy, and keep a Designated Water Watcher on duty at every age.

Water safety isn't something kids outgrow.
