AWARD WON 🏆 | Rawhide Wash Flood Hazard Mitigation CMAR
Over 850 property owners along Rawhide Wash are no longer required to carry federal flood insurance thanks to Rawhide Wash Flood Hazard Mitigation CMAR project that has earned local recognition at the American Public Works Association (APWA).

Award: APWA Project of the Year
Category: Disaster or Emergency Construction Repair

Key achievements included:
• Rehabilitation of the existing embankment
• Raising existing floodwalls to provide FEMA-certified protection against a 100-year flood event
• Installation of the FloodBreak passive automatic flood barrier system at the Los Portones Drive crossing
• Installation of sloped, rock-filled gabion baskets
• Construction of interior drainage systems to return local runoff to Rawhide Wash
• FEMA-certified roadway improvements at Happy Valley Road and Los Portones Drive
• Salvage and restoration of 1,350 native plants

Thanks to the seamless coordination and cooperation from the Flood Control District of Maricopa County City of Phoenix, AZ USA, City of Scottsdale - Government, and JE Fuller, this project was a huge success.
