This Memorial Weekend feels especially meaningful to me.

Today my interview with Roots of England was released, and it reminded me of my Grandfather, Parnell Stivender, and the generations before us who lived through sacrifice, hardship, rebuilding, and perseverance.

As I continue learning more about England, Europe, and World War II history, I realize how much those generations carried — and how important it is that we never forget.

Memorial Weekend is not just about a long weekend.
It is about remembering the people who gave their lives, the families forever changed, and the freedom we often take for granted.

I’m thankful for my grandfather, my family history, and the opportunity to reflect more deeply on where we come from and what others endured before us.
