The details that often go unnoticed are usually the ones that take the most work to get right.

This stair detail is a good example. To carry the baseboard cleanly along the wall, a flexible molding was used to create a smooth transition up the staircase. A small detail that took hours to get just right, but one that quietly ties the home together.

Getting details like this right takes time. Adjusting, stepping back, refining, and sometimes starting over until it feels seamless.

There are countless moments like this throughout the home. Easy to miss at first glance, but they are the details that shape how a space feels.

We’ve got another deck to share!

The last time we shared this view was back in early March, during the framing stages when the door was just being installed.

Two of our favorite details on this cantilever deck: built in railing lights that bring a bright glow to the decking at night, and glass panel railings that keep the view wide open to the ocean beyond.

The project is coming together quickly, though we’re still waiting on one final feature we can’t wait to show you.

Last fall, while in between projects, we switched things up and took on a deck build along the ocean.

The homeowners loved spending time outside, but their existing deck had started to fail and was no longer safe for their young family.

The goal: create a space built for gathering, while making the most of the view out over the water.

The result: a spacious 30x15 deck built for gathering, finished with Brownstone Azek decking and the Trex cable rail system to keep the focus on the view beyond.

As far as places to have your morning coffee, this one is tough to beat.

Built for slow summer nights.

Tucked into the city, but designed to feel completely removed from it. Between the grill station, layered landscaping, and natural privacy throughout, this backyard feels like its own little world in the middle of Boston.

Which light fixture is your favorite?

curated a beautiful selection of lighting for this home, capturing the relaxed coastal feel the homeowners were after. Every piece was chosen to complement the space while carrying the same aesthetic seamlessly throughout the home.

Let’s take a look back at the early stages of this build.

The homeowners didn’t just want to add a garage, they also wanted to gain more usable space in the basement below. To make that happen, the garage had to essentially float over the basement addition.

After cutting away the original foundation and demolishing the remaining structure, new foundation walls were placed.

Spanning front to back across those new walls are two steel I-beams topped with a corrugated metal deck system. That deck carries the entire garage slab above, along with the weight of vehicles and daily use.

A cool glimpse at how structural engineering plays a major role in custom home building.

Swipe for the before >

Over the weekend, our masons finished chipping away, literally, at the fireplace stonework. Each stone was hand chipped onsite to create the perfect fit and alignment.

The mantel, just like the wet bar we shared a few weeks ago, was saved during demo. An old beam repurposed to add character, texture, and sentiment to the space.

Bright, balanced, and built to last.

At first glance, it this kitchen might feel simple, but simplicity at this level is never accidental. Proportion, alignment, and detail carry the space, from the coffered ceiling above to the millwork that completes the island below. Every line has intention. Every surface has purpose.

Your view from above and below.

Framing stage from a few months back. Setting the ridge line is one of those moments where the home really starts to take shape.

Fast forward to now, interior trim is complete and we’re getting ready for paint.

Always fun to look back at where it started.
