We are honored to share that a home designed by Hansen Architects along Ponte Vedra Boulevard in Florida has made headlines for a truly remarkable reason. The nearly 10,000-square-foot Spanish Colonial style residence, built by Dana B. Kenyon Company, recently sold for $20 million with all proceeds benefiting The Sontag Foundation, one of the largest private funders of brain tumor research in North America. The home was born out of love and vision, and we are proud to have played a role in bringing it to life. What a beautiful reminder that the homes we design can leave an impact far beyond their walls. We are excited to share that we are nearing the completion of SCAD's new student housing project, serving as a gateway to the Canal District! Opening in Fall 2026, this project features a six-story and a seven-story residential building. This project has been a true team effort, and we are proud to have collaborated with an extremely talented group of partners, including Thomas & Hutton, Tharpe Engineering Group, Method Engineering Group, Camacho Associates, Inc., and Choate Construction Company. We look forward to sharing more as this project becomes home for SCAD students for decades to come.

We are thrilled to share that the SCAD - The University for Creative Careers Jen Library renovation in Savannah has been named a 2026 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Award winner in the Academic Libraries category! Selected among award winners spanning the globe, this recognition reflects the incredible collaboration and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this project to life. This National Preservation Month, we are looking back at one of our most cherished projects — the historic Mills B. Lane House, built in 1909 and located across from Forsyth Park in Savannah's Historic District. In the early 2000s, our very own J. Paul Hansen led an extensive restoration, carefully preserving the home's original character while thoughtfully expanding it for modern living. This 12,583 square foot project was honored with awards from the Historic Savannah Foundation, AIA Savannah, and The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation— a project from over two decades ago that we remain just as proud of today.

We are so proud of our team and grateful for the recognition of the hard work and dedication that went into this project. May is National Preservation Month, and we are proud to highlight one of our most impactful projects along Savannah's iconic Broughton Street. Beginning in 2013, Hansen Architects partnered with Ben Carter Enterprises to restore several facades in Savannah's Landmark Historic District — uncovering original brick and stone detailing that had been hidden beneath concrete and stucco for nearly 50 years. Spanning six blocks, these restorations brought new life back to a corridor that has long been the heart of Savannah's shopping and business district. Hansen Architects is proud to announce we have received an Excellence in Rehabilitation Award from The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation for the Savannah Culinary Institute! A special congratulations to Senior Principal, Patrick Phelps, who led this project and his dedication to historic preservation made this recognition possible.

This award recognizes projects that make compatible use of a historic building while preserving the features that convey its historic value. Originally constructed in 1856, this Bay Street landmark was carefully rehabilitated to house Savannah Technical College's Culinary Arts Program—restoring its historic storefront, addressing significant structural deterioration, and thoughtfully integrating modern teaching kitchens while honoring the building's character. We are honored to have played a role in preserving a piece of Savannah's history while creating a dynamic educational resource for the community. Take a look at the before and after photos!
