Our story began in 1946 with the collaboration of former US Army Corps of Engineers, Hue Thomas and Joe Hutton, opening an engineering firm in Savannah, GA. Our founders envisioned tremendous opportunities in transforming the landscape and well-being of our communities by providing professional and consulting services to municipalities in the region, as well as private entities seeking to develop in the area. Today, Thomas & Hutton stands as one of the most well-respected and established multidisciplinary firms in the Southeast, branching out to 15 offices across 10 regions in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Rebecca Montgomery is joining the Leadership Camden Class of 2026–2027!

Rebecca, a Civil Designer in our Brunswick office, was selected for the program through the Camden County Chamber of Commerce.

Leadership Camden brings together local professionals and elected officials to develop leadership skills, build relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of the people and issues shaping Camden County.

With more than 10 years of experience supporting infrastructure projects across Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida, Rebecca brings valuable experience and regional knowledge to the program.

Lauren Garren, PE is taking on a new opportunity to serve the Augusta community as a member of the Augusta Kiwanis Club Board of Directors for 2026–2027!

For more than a century, the Augusta Kiwanis Club has served the downtown Augusta community. The club supports the region through an endowed scholarship trust fund for residents of the Savannah River Region and a charitable trust that provides monetary gifts to local organizations.

We’re glad to see Lauren continuing to invest her time and leadership in the community beyond her work at Thomas & Hutton (T&H). We look forward to seeing her involvement in the year ahead!

Congratulations to John Winters, PLA, and Keane McLaughlin, PLA, on their promotions within T&H’s Landscape Architecture team.

John moves into the role of Landscape Architect Senior Group Leader, supporting teams, client relationships, and growth across North Carolina and South Carolina.

Keane steps into the role of Landscape Architecture Group Leader for Charleston, where he will lead design teams and support project delivery and employee development.

Both bring more than 20 years of experience and a strong understanding of how thoughtful planning and design can support the places where people live, gather, and connect.

The Greenville office brought a little extra flavor to Jeans Day with a chili cook-off benefiting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s!

Team members gathered over lunch to put their recipes to the test, cast their votes, and raise funds for the cause. Wesley Hall came out on top with Most Memorable Chili, while Aaron Falkenmeyer earned The People’s Champ. Keeping everything running smoothly was chili ambassador Witt Compton, with help from Alexa Schiazza and Kayla LaRue.

From homemade chili to homemade awards, the afternoon was a fun chance to spend time together while giving back. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated in support of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s!

Project Spotlight: Rock Nashville | Nashville, TN

Rock Nashville is a 55-acre rehearsal and production campus built for Nashville’s live entertainment and touring industry. The approximately 515,000-square-foot campus includes 13 rehearsal studios, full-scale arena and amphitheater rehearsal spaces, and production, office, and support facilities.

T&H served as civil engineer and landscape architect, supporting the project from entitlement through design and implementation, including site planning, infrastructure, access, stormwater, utilities, and landscape design.

T&H worked alongside development partners Rock Lititz and Merus and project architect Merus Architects, with Merus also serving as the contractor.

Rock Nashville brings the people and resources behind live touring together in one purpose-built campus, supporting Nashville’s music and entertainment industry.

Thomas & Hutton’s (T&H) Greenville team came together to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, helping raise more than $1,500 for the cause!

Their fundraising efforts earned the team Grand Champion status, which they celebrated at Sunday’s Walk with Reedy, the Greenville Drive’s frog mascot.

Together, the Walk’s fundraising efforts surpassed the $2,000 goal and reached $2,555 overall. Thank you to our Greenville walkers and everyone who contributed to supporting people and families affected by Alzheimer’s.

Congratulations to the Wilkes County Payroll Development Authority on Wilkes County Industrial Park achieving GRAD certification.

Located south of Washington, Georgia, the approximately 486-acre property is accessed by an existing dirt road off Harris Road. The largely undeveloped site borders the OmniTRAX railroad and includes wooded areas and an interconnected network of dirt roads.

Project Spotlight: Point Hope | Charleston, SC

Located on the Cainhoy Peninsula, Point Hope is a 9,000-acre master-planned community shaped around the Lowcountry landscape. The community brings together neighborhoods, shopping and dining, schools, medical services, parks, trails, and recreational amenities while preserving connections to the surrounding natural environment.

T&H has supported Point Hope Charleston since planning began in 2002, preparing the original master plan and zoning documents and continuing to provide civil engineering, landscape architecture, GIS, land surveying, environmental planning, transportation design, and construction-phase services as the community grows. T&H collaborated with Point Hope Partners throughout each stage of the project.

More than two decades after planning began, Point Hope continues to take shape as new neighborhoods, businesses, public spaces, and amenities become part of the community.
