Check where the highest limbs sit against the power line or the roof edge. A canopy grown past that point puts weight where wind can do the most damage, and puts branches within reach of the line during the next storm. Reducing the top height brings the crown back below the roofline and clear of the wires without taking the tree down completely. It's worth flagging to a crew before work starts which limbs sit closest to the line. Learn more about tree topping for oaks or pines that outgrew the space.
