Paeonia ‘Karl Rosenfield’ in bloom.

Like many well-known garden plants, this peony wasn’t named for a botanical characteristic. It was named for a person.

Introduced in 1908 by breeder John Rosenfield, the variety was named after his son, Karl. More than a century later, it remains one of the most popular peonies in American gardens.

Karl is in good company. There are roses named for Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. Even Franz Kafka has a dahlia bearing his name.

Excited to share that two Landscape Creations projects have been recognized with 2026 Oasis Awards from Luxury Pools + Outdoor Living Magazine.

“Modern Tudor” was honored for its “seamless transitions and strong sense of place,” transforming a narrow coastal parcel into a layered outdoor living environment.

“Made for the Outdoors” was recognized for creating a landscape that feels “discovered rather than built,” extending recreation and gathering spaces across a multi-generational property.

A driveway is rarely just a driveway.

Done well, it shapes how water moves across a site, how the entry unfolds, and how gardens perform for years after the build. Material, permeability, grading, and planting — resolved as one decision, not four.

Designed by and among our favorites, this entry pairs peastone with granite, cobble, and native grasses — detailed together to read as a single, intentional landscape.
