Large-format pavers don't leave much room for "close enough." Every piece gets set with a vacuum lifter, checked with a level, and cut to fit before it ever finds its home. Set one right and the next twenty follow. Rush one and you'll know it for years.

Some sites tell you what they want to be. This one, tucked back under the pines, wasn't going to be a lawn — so we gave it a dry creek instead.

Our crew spent the day hand-placing carex, working stone by stone to shape the streambed, and setting a boulder where it could anchor the whole bed. Once the bones were in, in came the astilbe, tiarella, and ferns for texture down low, and landscape lighting so the path still reads after the sun drops behind the trees.
