Phinney Design Group is a multi-disciplinary Architecture, Interior Design, Green Building Consulting, and Construction Management Firm with a focus on sustainable and environmentally responsible construction methods. Practicing what we preach, Phinney Design Group is headquartered in a sustainable green building located on the corner of Beekman St. in the historic Dublin Neighborhood of Saratoga Springs, NY.

What a great day celebrating our team and all we’ve accomplished together this year at our Summer Staff Day! With perfect weather on our side, we kicked off the day with a boat cruise aboard the Morgan, taking in the beauty of Lake George before enjoying a delicious lunch at The Sagamore Hotel.

The afternoon brought plenty of friendly competition and fun at the Rec Center, including pickleball and other activities that gave everyone a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy time together outside the office. We wrapped up the day at one of our Residential lake home projects on Lake George, where our clients took the time to thank us for our work.

It was a wonderful day to celebrate our accomplishments, recognize the people who make it all possible, and look ahead to what’s next. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved this year and excited for all that the coming year will bring!

⛳🏆 BREAKING NEWS: Michael Phinney has officially won a charity golf tournament. Yes, you read that correctly. For the first time ever, Michael can call himself a golf tournament champion and we’re not sure he’s going to let us forget it anytime soon. 😂

Team PDG had an awesome day yesterday supporting the Dan Stec Golf Tournament at Glens Falls Country Club, with Michael Phinney and Connor Abess from PDG teaming up with David Carrol and David Barnett for what can only be described as an absolutely legendary round of golf. Great shots were made. Putts dropped. Bragging rights were secured with a final score of -13. 🏌️‍♂️

All joking aside, we’re proud to support a great event and always appreciate the opportunity to spend a day with good people for a good cause. Congratulations to the team and especially to Michael on finally getting one in the win column! 🏆

This past weekend, PDG’s Matt Tangorre, Assoc. AIA and Phillip Quindara had the pleasure of attending the Adirondack Architectural Heritage Summer Celebration at the historic White Pine Camp in Paul Smiths, New York.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow guests while exploring one of the Adirondacks’ remarkable Great Camps firsthand. This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as White Pine Camp marks the centennial of its role as President Calvin Coolidge’s “Summer White House.” The tour offered a fascinating look at the camp’s distinctive architecture, craftsmanship, and history and we especially enjoyed stepping inside the historic Bowling Alley!

Thank you to Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) for bringing together such a great group and for continuing to celebrate and preserve the architectural heritage that makes the Adirondack region so special.

A wonderful evening celebrating history, community, and timeless style! This past weekend, Phinney Design Group’s Lisamarie Dapper and Alexa Benware attended Fort Ticonderoga’s King’s Garden Party, embracing the evening’s Polka Dots & Pinstripes theme while enjoying one of the North Country’s signature summer events.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends, clients, and community partners in the beautiful setting of the King’s Garden while supporting an organization dedicated to preserving one of our nation’s most important historic landmarks. Thank you to Fort Ticonderoga for hosting another memorable evening. We look forward to returning next year!

Last week, the Phinney Design Group team had the pleasure of attending the Lake George Land Conservancy Gala aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement. As the dinner cruise made its way across Lake George during a spectacular golden sunset, we enjoyed seeing several projects our team has helped bring to life along the shoreline. 

This photo was taken in front of one of those iconic destinations, The Sagamore Resort, and captures a great evening spent celebrating the conservation and stewardship of one of New York’s most treasured landscapes. It was a memorable evening filled with great conversations, beautiful scenery, and the opportunity to connect with many of our clients and community partners.

Thank you to the Lake George Land Conservancy for hosting such a fantastic event. We are proud to support organizations that help preserve the natural beauty that makes the Lake George region so special.

Today, our conference room looked a little different. The Phinney Design Group team gathered for a watch party to cheer on our very own Marci Clark-Phinney, Office Manager at PDG, as she represented Team USA in the World Masters Field Hockey World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

While the USA Women’s Over-50 team came up short against Belgium, 3-1, today’s result doesn’t diminish what an incredible accomplishment it is to compete on the world stage. Representing your country is an honor that reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and passion for the sport.

Marci, we couldn’t be prouder of you. Watching you compete while wearing the USA jersey wearing the number 14 was an inspiring moment for all of us, and we’re excited to continue cheering you and your teammates on throughout the tournament.

There’s something special about taking a team photo at a moment like this. Just after celebrating the topping off of 504 Broadway, the Phinney Design Group team gathered in front of the building that will soon become the Phinney Design Collective—a project that reflects our passion for thoughtful design, sustainability, and community revitalization.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited to continue watching 504 Broadway take shape as one of downtown Troy’s most sustainable and innovative developments. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. The best is yet to come.

Yesterday, we celebrated an exciting milestone with the Topping Off Ceremony for 504 Broadway in downtown Troy, marking the placement of structural mass timber beams on the future home of the Phinney Design Collective.
 
Thank you to our project partners, elected officials, funding agencies, contractors, consultants, and community members who joined us to celebrate this achievement. The opportunity for attendees to sign the final beam before it was lifted into place made the occasion even more meaningful.
 
As the project continues to take shape, we’re proud to be transforming this historic building into what is expected to become Troy’s first LEED Platinum certified building, showcasing the power of adaptive reuse, mass timber, and sustainable design. Thank you to everyone helping make this vision a reality.
