Every material tells a story, and bringing them together is where the magic happens. Our interior design team is exploring a rich palette of natural textures, warm wood tones, earthy colors, and timeless finishes for one of our residential projects.

From the character of dark wood flooring and textured stone to the warmth of leather and subtle green hues, each selection is thoughtfully considered to complement the home’s exterior architecture, creating a natural connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

It’s all about finding the right balance of texture, color, and materials to create spaces that are as beautiful as they are livable.

A great evening of networking, reconnecting, and celebrating the interior design community!

Last night, our we attended IIDA’s Flannel Fest at Pat’s Barn for an evening of great conversations and connections. It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with familiar faces, make new friends, and connect with fellow professionals who share our passion for interior design.

Thank you to the IIDA NY Chapter for bringing our design community together for such a fun event!

We were proud to support Project Architect Emily MacDougall today as she showcased her architectural watercolor artwork as a vendor at SPAC’s In Conversation event, held at the Hall of Springs.

A lifelong visual artist and practicing architectural designer, Emily brings her two creative disciplines together through her watercolor work. Drawing inspiration from nature, travel, local architecture, and history, her artwork reflect the same thoughtful observation and appreciation for place that she brings to her work at Phinney Design Group.

We love seeing the creativity of our team extend beyond the studio, and we’re proud to support Emily as she shares her talent with the community.

We’re excited to share that Phinney Design Group received three ASID Design Excellence Awards last night!

🏆 First Place — Diamond Point Lake House
🏆 First Place — RiverTrail Beerworks
🥈 Second Place — The Lofts of Saratoga

Our Interior Design team is incredibly proud of these projects and the recognition they received. Each represents a very different design challenge—from a historic lakefront residence to a vibrant brewery and thoughtfully designed residential spaces—but all reflect our team’s commitment to creating interiors that are distinctive, functional, and deeply connected to their setting.

We’re honored to have our work recognized by ASID and proud to celebrate three projects that mean so much to our team.

Timeless character, thoughtfully refreshed. PDG’s Interior Design team recently brought a fresh perspective to the lobby of The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, building upon the warmth and historic character of this landmark property.

New furniture selections introduce a refined mix of textures, patterns, and comfortable seating, creating inviting gathering areas throughout the lobby. The design also celebrates two distinctive works of art inspired by “The Last of the Mohicans”—the hotel’s historic mural above the fireplace and a newly installed reproduction of “The Defense of the Rock”. Together, they reinforce the lobby’s connection to the history and character of the Glens Falls region.

Our interior design team carefully considered the furniture, artwork, accessories, and architectural surroundings as part of one cohesive interior—allowing these historic elements to remain focal points while introducing a fresh layer of comfort and sophistication.

Our new Troy office at 504 Broadway is more than a new home for Phinney Design Group—it’s an opportunity to explore new ways of designing and building.

Albany Business Review published an article today highlighting the mass timber construction at 504 Broadway and the many benefits this approach can offer, from sustainability and reduced embodied carbon to the warmth and character of exposed wood structure.

For our team, 504 Broadway has also become a hands-on learning experience. Designing with mass timber has given us the opportunity to better understand the system, explore its potential, and gain practical knowledge that we can carry forward and apply to future projects. We’re excited to see 504 Broadway taking shape—and even more excited about how what we’re learning here can help inform more sustainable, thoughtful design throughout the region.

What a great day celebrating our team and all we’ve accomplished together this year at our Summer Staff Day! With perfect weather on our side, we kicked off the day with a boat cruise aboard the Morgan, taking in the beauty of Lake George before enjoying a delicious lunch at The Sagamore Hotel.

The afternoon brought plenty of friendly competition and fun at the Rec Center, including pickleball and other activities that gave everyone a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy time together outside the office. We wrapped up the day at one of our Residential lake home projects on Lake George, where our clients took the time to thank us for our work.

It was a wonderful day to celebrate our accomplishments, recognize the people who make it all possible, and look ahead to what’s next. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved this year and excited for all that the coming year will bring!

⛳🏆 BREAKING NEWS: Michael Phinney has officially won a charity golf tournament. Yes, you read that correctly. For the first time ever, Michael can call himself a golf tournament champion and we’re not sure he’s going to let us forget it anytime soon. 😂

Team PDG had an awesome day yesterday supporting the Dan Stec Golf Tournament at Glens Falls Country Club, with Michael Phinney and Connor Abess from PDG teaming up with David Carrol and David Barnett for what can only be described as an absolutely legendary round of golf. Great shots were made. Putts dropped. Bragging rights were secured with a final score of -13. 🏌️‍♂️

All joking aside, we’re proud to support a great event and always appreciate the opportunity to spend a day with good people for a good cause. Congratulations to the team and especially to Michael on finally getting one in the win column! 🏆
