A kitchen made for an adventurous palate.

When your client is a passionate cook, the kitchen needs to do a lot more than look beautiful. This one was designed to work hard—with durable surfaces, abundant storage and a place for just about everything—without sacrificing personality.

The dramatic Nightfall cabinetry, warm white oak island, walnut accents and sweeping granite create the visual impact. Behind the scenes, custom storage, concealed appliances, an integrated warming drawer and a tucked-away coffee station make the room exceptionally functional.

An outdoor shower was always part of the plan. Exactly where it would go? That came later.

At our Livin’ on the Ledge project on Lake George, the perfect spot revealed itself as construction progressed: a private niche carved into the exposed ledge below the new recreation building.

The location offered a practical connection to the water supply above—but more importantly, it was about how the homeowner wanted to use it. An avid runner, she envisioned an outdoor shower as the perfect finish to a jog, so easy access from the property mattered more than proximity to the lake.

And then our plumbing trade partner had a little fun with it!

The custom copper fixture—complete with an oversized, handcrafted sunflower showerhead—turns something purely functional into a one-of-a-kind feature that feels right at home against the rugged rock.

A great example of what can happen when thoughtful design, an extraordinary site, and clever craftsmanship come together.

Historic Lakeside Home Renovation

1930s Charm Meets Modern Adirondack Luxury

Perched on the shores of Lake George, NY, this exquisite renovation preserves the vintage charm of a 1930s lakeside retreat while introducing modern comfort and refined luxury. The project thoughtfully honors original craftsmanship while expanding the home with architect-designed additions for today’s lifestyle.

A new addition forms the heart of the home with a gourmet kitchen, vaulted great room framed by massive timber beams, and an open dining and bar area. Another connects the original structure to a three-car garage with breezeway, guest apartment, bathroom, and laundry room. Historic details remain central: the original fireplace anchors a formal dining room with custom millwork and glass-front built-ins, complemented by a music room showcasing a treasured melodeon and antique player piano.

Upstairs bedrooms were reconfigured with spacious closets and ensuite baths, while the third floor offers a cozy wood-paneled bunk room and a home office boasting spectacular lake views. This Lake George renovation beautifully bridges the past and present, preserving heritage while embracing Adirondack elegance.

A native of Stillwater, Dave honed his skills framing stately Florida homes for 17 years before returning to New York. Drawn to Teakwood’s commitment to quality and customer service, he has become integral to the success of our growing Concierge Services division.

In Dave’s words: “What I think is special about Teakwood is the passion to do it right. When we encounter a roadblock, we take the time to make sure it is right. In the end, the clients are happy and appreciative.”
