This is called a Rain Escape system. Above is an outdoor deck. The rain escape system collects water that rains onto the deck, into these channels between the joists, and leads the water to outlets at the end. We were called in to install gutters to run the water out of this client’s shop from those outlets.

With the amount of water volume coming off of the roof of this home in Holladay, standard 5” gutters were not handling the job. We swapped out all the 5” gutters for 6” which adds roughly 40-50% more capacity for drainage.

Customer on this home siding remodel states that now whenever they turn on the water at the outside spigot, water drips out. Well, if we remove the nail we strategically shot right into the copper pipe behind it, water then SPRAYS out! Sometimes we do a stupid but we take care of it.
