Grateful Sunday

I’ve been thinking about how gratitude isn’t just something we feel, it’s something we do.

Sometimes the greatest way to show gratitude is simply by being of service to others. Offering a helping hand, sharing what we know, giving our time, or making someone’s day a little easier.

It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference.

I’m grateful for the opportunities I have to help others, and I’ve found that the more we give, the more we realize how much we have to be thankful for.

Happy Grateful Sunday!

Just because you love every flower color doesn’t mean you need to plant them all!

One of the easiest ways to make your landscape look more intentional and professionally designed is to limit your color palette.

Too many competing colors can make a garden feel busy and disconnected.

Instead, choose 2–3 complementary colors and repeat them throughout your landscape. This creates rhythm, balance, and a more cohesive design.

And remember, green is a color too! Different shades of green, foliage textures, and plant shapes add plenty of interest without needing flowers in every color of the rainbow.

Good landscape design isn’t about having more. It’s about making everything work together.

I didn’t create my garden overnight.

It’s taken years of planting, moving things around, making mistakes, learning what works, and sometimes starting all over again.

Some plants thrived. Others didn’t. Some ideas looked better in my head than they did in the ground.

But that’s gardening. It’s a constant process of learning, experimenting, and growing.

So if you’re looking at someone’s beautiful, established garden and wondering why yours doesn’t look like that yet, remember you’re probably comparing your beginning to their years of work.

Give yourself and your garden some grace. Beautiful gardens take time.

Always keep growing.

Want your landscape to look professionally designed? Stop chasing flowers and start thinking about structure!

One of my favorite guidelines when designing a landscape is the 70/20/10 formula.

🌳 70% Structure:Trees, shrubs, and evergreens that create the backbone of your landscape. These give your garden shape, balance, and year-round interest.

🌾 20% Texture:Ornamental grasses, perennials, and groundcovers that add movement, softness, and layers.

🌸10% Pops of Color: Seasonal flowers and colorful accents that bring everything together.

The biggest mistake I see homeowners make is focusing on flowers first and forgetting about everything else.

Flowers come and go, especially in Florida, but a well-designed landscape should look beautiful even when nothing is blooming.

The secret isn’t more flowers. It’s better design.

Save this for your next landscape project!
