It’s All About the Preparation Before You Can Even Start!

When you’re working inside a hospital, especially right next to an active Operating Room, you don’t just show up and start cutting.

There’s a tremendous amount of preparation that has to happen before the first torch is ever lit.

As our JP Services crew prepares to torch-cut and remove these large steel brackets from the ceiling for new OR equipment, every precaution has to be in place. The room is completely contained, fume extraction vacuums are running, fire blankets are positioned, water and fire extinguishers are on standby, and the existing fire protection systems remain active.

Fire prevention, fume and smoke control, protecting the surrounding areas, and minimizing disruption to the active hospital environment are all part of the process.

In an environment like this, the preparation is just as important as the work itself.

It’s about taking your time, having the right equipment, having a trained and experienced crew, and making sure every precaution is taken before that first cut is made.

Another project underway! Our demo crew has been hard at work at the Detwiler’s grocery store in Palmetto, carefully removing the deli and sub shop façade, signage, and finishes to prepare for a fresh new look.

Busy weekend for the JP Services team!

While most people were enjoying the weekend, our crew was hard at work at SMH, carefully demolishing an operating room in an active hospital environment.

Working in a sterile, occupied healthcare facility requires precision, patience, and experience. Our team carefully removed lead-lined walls, metal ceilings, and the structural support systems and brackets for specialized medical equipment all while maintaining strict dust control, minimizing noise, and ensuring the safety of patients, hospital staff, and surrounding areas.

This isn’t just demolition. It takes a highly trained crew that understands the unique challenges of working in an active hospital where cleanliness, infection control, safety, and coordination are just as important as the demolition itself.

After a long, challenging week of hard work, our crew has officially broken through the wall at the Orlando hospital project!

This has been a meticulous operation requiring precision, patience, and teamwork. The concrete cutting has been anything but easy, but our wire sawing crew stayed focused and kept pushing forward every step of the way.

A huge shoutout to Lee and his crew for absolutely crushing it. Your dedication, skill, and determination have made this major milestone possible.

Precision Demolition Inside an Active Hospital

Not every demolition project is about brute force. Some require precision, patience, and seamless teamwork.

JP Services is currently performing specialized demolition work at a hospital in Orlando, where our Concrete Cutting and Interior Demolition divisions are working side by side to remove and replace an MRIdian Linac—one of the world’s most advanced MRI-guided radiation therapy systems used to treat cancer.

Because the hospital remains fully operational, every step of this project must be carefully coordinated. Noise, vibration, dust, and safety are all critical considerations to ensure patient care continues uninterrupted.

Our Concrete Cutting team is performing core drilling to prepare for wire sawing, carefully cutting through nearly three feet of heavily reinforced shielding material to create an opening for the equipment removal. At the same time, our Interior Demolition crew is hand-removing drywall to expose the copper shielding hidden within the treatment room walls. The copper sheeting must be carefully removed and protected to allow the concrete team to continue their work.

These treatment rooms are specially constructed with massive concrete walls and copper shielding to safely contain radiation during patient treatments. Every cut, every removal, and every step must be executed with exceptional precision.

This isn’t just demolition—it’s a carefully choreographed operation requiring constant communication between trades, detailed planning, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

Projects like this demonstrate what JP Services does best: tackling highly specialized demolition challenges while working in sensitive, occupied environments where precision matters just as much as production.
